Bristol-based Formula has seen what can only be described as a meteoric rise of the last two years. However, he is anything but an ‘overnight success’.

Beginning his journey into production in 2012, Olly Bishop aka. Formula was DJing at festivals by the time he was sixteen. No stranger to the world of electronic music at this point, he began to explore the sounds of Philly Blunt, Hospital Records and Souped Up to influence his own unique style.

Working with new-school pioneers Invicta Audio on his breakthrough release, Formula now works regularly with Crucast, DNB Allstars and Elevate Records to name but a few. His bootleg of TC’s iconic track ‘Tap Ho’ was so popular that it was signed as an official remix, jumping straight to #1 on Beatport and featuring in every DJ set this year. Formula’s music has also seen support from Andy C, Hedex, Friction and Born On Road.

With tracks spanning a range of drum and bass sub-genres, it is impossible to pigeonhole Formula as an artist. Whether he is working with talented vocalists or simply creating heavy-hitting basslines for the dancefloor at his studio in Bristol, you can guarantee that Formula is always searching for ways to take his sound to the next level.
