Multidisciplinary artist, DJ and producer Casnova follows up smash hit “Ricky Hatton”, featuring London lyricists KAM-BU and Bawo, with a set of sleek new visuals — releasing February 7th 2024.
Hailing from west London, Casnova has been steadily forming a reputation as one of the most exciting, visionary artists in the UK landscape right now for his unique, forward-thinking blends of garage, house and alternative hip-hop. Fresh from announcing his newly founded ‘ARTA’ night, Casnova continues momentum with a sleek set of DIFTY-directed visuals, complementing the tracks innate garage-infused tones and lyricism from two rhymers at the top of their games. “Ricky Hatton” acts as a timely reminder of the young artist’s innate skill in crafting a sense of vintage nostalgia, whilst planting himself distinctly in today’s effervescent culture.
Speaking on the new video, Casnova states: “After having so much fun making the track and it being a fan favourite, only felt right to finish off the EP with a video for it including all of us. DIFTY (director) was able to create a visual for what the track stood for and represent us all as artists at the same time by setting it where we’re all from.”
Entering the scene in 2019 with his Golden Wave EP, Casnova has gone on to release a slew of intricate dance records including two-track project Double Edge, via In My Head Records, “Hot For You” and arguably Casnova’s most popular release “Family Tree”, featuring close friend and collaborator Finn Foxell. These early releases provided the perfect foundation for last year’s successful genre-bending Alignment EP featuring the likes of KAM-BU, Bawo, Finn Foxell, Kalila and Anjeli across a selection of self-produced house, garage and lo-fi beats.
With music roots in classical Iranian music, Casnova heads up his very own club night called “ARTA”, Iranian for ‘the cosmic order of stars and planets’, officially kickstarted this year at a sold out Phonox enlisting Main Phase, A For Aplha and manj. This follows previous sell outs with the likes of Yung Singh, P-Rallel, Oneman, Dr Dubplate and Sanasesh, amongst others. Add to this appearances at some of the most respected dancefloors in the country — Fabric, Village Underground, Colour Factory — and all points to an artist continuing to break barriers in the electronic sphere and beyond.
Casnova’s latest release acts as a timely reminder of his ability to transport the listener, even momentarily, into a new space. A singular artist forging a reputation as one of the most captivating and nuanced young UK electronic prospects coming through right now, 2024 is set to be another milestone year for the ‘ARTA’ boss, with plenty more on the horizon including a Club Dub remix of “Ricky Hatton” coming soon…
